I had a similar problem last year. It turned out to be the video card socket...PCI socket.. (I replaced the video card then found out that it was the socket) The monitor used to just lose signal...

Hey people just bought a used system & when starting up it only tells me how fast it is then prompts for a password.. anyway to get around that. or disable it without reformatting the whole thing?
