It's set to turn off every 30 minutes to save power, so it won't litterally be on 24/7.

I think it is overheating because I've just sat it infront of a normal sized fan for about 30 mins and it works fine again now.

The switch is not directly powered, it doesn't make a difference if it's connected to the switch or directly to the PC and I think it might be more towards overheating than refresh rates etc.

Monitor cuts out

I've just got a new flat screen TFT monitor and I can use it for long periods of time (about 6 hours+) before it cuts out.

When it cuts out it looks like it looses power and it sometimes flickers...

My suggestion would be to make sure you've restarted the computers after you turn the firewalls off. XP's firewall doesn't seem to respond to changes...
