Editing Context Menu
Hi there, I would like some help with editing the context menu which shows up when right mouse clicking on files such as image files audio files etc. The list I have showing now is just too long, and I am having to use the up/down "arrows" to get to the menu items that I want work with. I have looked into a couple of small apps that can edit context menu's, but I'm not sure what to edit in them.
Any help would be very much appreciated. |
Hey buddy how are you??
On 98se the menu entries are in the registry, mine are here: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\Con textMenuHandlers I dunno if yours are in the same spot,if not do a reg search for "send to" thats how I just found where they are... (I knew it was in the reg but didnt know which key it is) Good luck :) |
Windows key + R
RUN regedit (hit OK) navigate to the following key: "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT ContextMenuHandlers Right click the one(s) you don't want and delete |
I have 3 all together Murf.....
MOVE TO COPY TO Which is strange because those 2 DO NOT show up in my right click menu!! The only one that shows up is in my other key I posted above. "SEND TO" so could I delete these 2 from this other key?? |

Try searching the reg for "Send to" and see which key its in Lufbra, thats probably the one ya want :)
You do have "Send to" in your right click menu right? |
Thanks. I have found out that the app CCleaner has a feature that let's us edit the context menu, so for now I am playing around with that until I have the menu set up to how i like it.

Good im glad its so easy for ya!!!
I searched my whole reg and found several "contextmenuhandlers" keys. (Diff stuff on each) I think the SEND TO and COPY TO is for a file association editing program I have...... (WINFILE) but im not sure...... Ill have to open the program again and see if those 2 are there on the right click menu.... |
