firefox extremely slow to load

firefox is extremely slow to load when I click on the icon. it have done searches but have been unable to find a solution. One talks about changing setting and pipeline, I am not sharp enough to try and do this. I do not want to do something and possibly make things worse. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi Dog33782. Have you made sure you have the latest stable version of Firefox? Are you experiencing abnormal slow speeds throughout the rest of your computer or is it just in relation to Firefox? If you have a large amount of add-ons, that's also a sure way to get a slower start-up.

firefox is slower than in the past - especially on older computers. The only suggestion I have is to try disabling your add ons and see if it speeds up. If it does, turn them back on one at a time to find the one that is slowing thingss down.

I checked, I don't have the latest version. If I upgrade will I lose my bookmarks ?.
Also my computer had been running slow overall. I ran defrag, disk cleanup, some improvement. Checked for spyware and cleaned that out, still slow.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked only have a couple of addons, but thanks for the reply

It may not solve the start-up time issue given it seems to be computer wide, but I would recommend updating. You shouldn't lose any bookmarks.

I would recommend updating aswell. i also dont think you should loose your bookmarks. i would export your bookmarks to your desktop. but i am not sure how to do that. if anyone else knows please kindly post for this problem. hope these suggestions help you.

I have started having this issue as well. About 2 weeks ago Firefox started taking longer to open up and then eventually wouldn't open after clicking on it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it was back to normal. This past week it started doing it again, going slowly then not opening. I'm not sure exactly what would cause it to do this. As far as your bookmarks are concerned, when you uninstall Firefox it asks if you want to delete your personal settings as well. If you uncheck that box it will keep your bookmarks.

thanks, if you find the cause please post a reply, I have never found a solution
