Don't get car-jacked

A flight attendant friend of mine emailed this to me. I thought I'd spread
the warning around. Car-jackin' doesn't happen where I live (Vancouver Canada)
but I use to live in San Jose California and it did happen there.

The email:

lets all move to Vancouver

Dodge June 10th, 2004 04:16 PM

Geees, I'd be safe then. I'm too dang lazy to get back out of my car to see what the paper is. I'd figure if it were important, they'd wait until I got to my car and hand it to me.....:D

There's no place like it in the World. You can drink the water right out of the taps
and there is no smog. Beaches, parks, forest, mountains, ocean, no bugs, no
garbage on the streets. That's why they chose 2010 Olympic Winter Games to
be held here at Whistler resort (about 2 hours from Van).

I loved San Jose and San Francisco but for everyday air breathing I had to relocate
to Van.

Another thing here, no body sues anybody. You can go downtown and hit people
on the head with a hammer all day and nobody will sue you, they just say "ow".
When you get in car accidents nobody sues the other guy. It's really weird.

I'd get sucker'd on that for sure. If I saw something stuck to my window
and didn't notice it before I jumped in I'd definitely jump out with the engine
running.

I'm glad I'm lazy then....:D

Van sounds like a great place to be. The US sucks when it comes to people. The law is so screwed up that the only people going to jail nowdays is the Inocent ones. (that give the crooks an easier time breaking into houses and such)... :(

That is not what they do around here. Lately they get the cars when pulling into convenience stores, shoot you, burn the body and steal your car. Already happened twice in the last couple of weeks.

Spider, if Vancouver is soooooooo awesome, how the heck did they let you get in? :p

Harrie June 11th, 2004 02:57 AM

Yes, Dan, it's so awful, it boggles the mind, the things that go on!

Thanks for the warning, though. I'd be one to fall for that!

Hey, I need to go to Vancouver, too! My God! That sounds completely awesome!

HEY ! HEY! HEYYYYYyyyyy!

I resemble that remark :)

Actually it was easy, when I came here they said "are you a chicken?"
I said "NO, heavens no sir!", they said "Ok, your in...we don't take chickens here"

Well there is one rule I learned the hard way here.

If you go downtown you don't park in underground parkades. Junkies smash
your window to get a glovebox shuffle or a quarter on the floor. I had the
passenger window smashed twice and the extra cab window (drivers side)
smashed once before I learned not to park in parkades.

I also bought a little flashing red strobe light that plugs into the cigarette lighter.
So when I park downtown I make sure the truck has nothing visible
on the seats or the floor and I plug the red strobe light in.

I haven't been smashed for 4 years.

It was funny when I was getting smashed. The third time I showed up at
the insurance company the insurance agent said "YOU AGAIN?" :)
