Trojan.Kotver!lnk - Moved by Murf

My Norton had a popup today advising that I had this:
Trojan.Kotver!lnk
It also said it could not remove it. I was then advised to install Norton Power Eraser, but this was no help. Any ideas on how to remove this?

Welcome to CTH bha19,

Let's take a look.

To make sure you have an accurate view of files there, make sure you can View Hidden Files. Also uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File Types"

If you know how, it's best to disable your antivirus while doing these steps.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Thanks for your help but running the scan found nothing. I did get the 2 .TXT files but they are too many characters for this forum if you want to see them.

I have to ask how you know such a detailed scan log found nothing? As for posting logs, you can use extra posts, and if necessary, break them in two.

You can delete this thread as I have found help from another site before this one. Sorry and thanks.

Okey doke. I'll have this thread closed. But it might behoove you to cooperate more at the other forum (which by the looks of it, you're not).
