Norton Antivirus in Windows XP

Hi there
I'm new to Windows XP and I see Norton Antivirus 2004 came with my computer. Can someone tell me about this? Is it only good for 1 year then I have to pay for upgrades? I use AVG antivirus, recommended by someone on this site and love it. Would it be safe to delete Norton somehow? What's your opinion? Thanks!

You definately need Anti-Virus and AVG is highly reputable.
You should be able to uninstall Norton from the Add/Remove in the Control Panel

Better check your documents as far as the length of nortons subscription. I recently purchased a hp and it was only good for 90 days. You can uninstall it with no problems. Just be sure to use some sort of registry cleaner to get rid of all leftovers.

Personally I have used Nortons for years and had no problems with it. Had problems with other Nortons utilities but not the antivirus. I also scan with different online virus scans to verify that my computer stays clean.
