HELP !!!
I have an Acer desktop running Windows 7 SP1. When I try to start it up I get the Windows Error Recovery screen – Windows failed to start.

I launched the recovery option it runs for about 20 mins with the message Startup Repair cannot repair the computer automatically.

I have tried it a number of times. I have seen two other errors during this:
BSOD STOP 0X0000007F and I was able to get into SAFE MODE a couple of time with one showing me FAILURE CONFIGURING WINDOWS UPDATES. REVERTING CHANGES. First time it just shutdown the system. I went back into Safe Mode and the reverting changes ran for about 30 mins and started Safe mode .

I read a number of recovery attempts but all seem a little different and I am not sure what recovery attempt I should try without cause more problems.

I would appreciate some help, please.

Questions?

1. Do you have a separate Video Card installed? If so and you have on-board video, then remove card and try using the on-board and see if it boots, as your Video driver could be corrupt or the card itself is bad.

2. Get into BIOS SETUP, usually a "F" key, 1st screen tells you and find where you can set it to defaults, do that and "Save and Exit". See if it boots.

3. You tried "Repair your Computer" but not working, have you tried "Last Known Configuration"?

4. Have you tried System Restore? If you can get it into Safe Mode, go to Start type in System Restore hit <Enter> If you do have several restore points find one maybe just before a Windows Update.

Also if you have Norton Anti-Virus, disable it.
