Can I stop these error messages?

Hi, I installed an Epson SX100 printer a couple of months ago and it works fine, but unfortunately I then found that a lot of programs (games, simulations etc) won't close cleanly, I click to exit them but the following two error message boxes come up in quick succession with a beep and I have to close the boxes to end the prog which is a bit of a hassle.

I uninstalled the printer and the problem went away, but when I re-installed it the problem came back, so obviously installing the printers to blame in some way. (The boxes appear regardless of whether the printer's switched on or off)
Any suggestions to kill the boxes would be appreciated, thanks
I'm WinXPHome

type msconfig in run, click on the startup tab and unselect anything that pertains to your epson, then restart.

sometimes there are little utilities that printers place into your memory at startup that will keep track of your printers ink and other stuff. Not sure exactly what on your specific printer. You should still be able to print without them. You can always go back and select them again

Do you think this E_S60 thing third from the bottom of the list is printer-related? Shall I untick it and (gulp) see what happens?

not sure, the site I use to check the startup list is currently offline. You should be able to check it yourself when it comes back online.

You should uninstall printer through Device Manager, first.
Turn computer off.
Disconnect printer from the computer.
Turn computer on.
Install new printer driver, and reconnect printer, when asked during driver installation.
