Computer questions

Hi my knowledge of computers leaves a little to be desired. So I was hoping for some help. My first question is there a way to check pages and websites viewed after the history has been deleted? I have searched but can't seem to find where temp internet files are saves. Also is there a log on the computer that records who you e mail and such? I use windows xp, and firefox for a browser. Any info would be helpful. I am not trying to delete, where I have been trying to find out where others have been. Thanks in advance....

Hi loulou

Welcome to CTH

In Firefox the files visited are stored in the cache which is held under the users profile, however this will not do you much good as they are not stored under the site URL but rather in a database and the individual files stored have obscure names which mean nothing to an untrained observer.

If it is your computer and you wish to monitor your children there are programs that you can install to prevent them accessing undesired sites. Net Nanny is one such application, see here for some information.

Thanks for responding. I guess what I am getting at is I sent an email to someone, and my husband went behind me and claims he found out who I sent an e mail to thru some kind of long that stores things. Its not a big deal or that I was hiding it I just want to know if there is such a place that stores things like that.

It depends on your isp. There are ways of finding sent e-mails.
