"Fixing (C:)..."

Hello. Saw this followed by numbers while starting up my computer the other day. Do I need a new Hard Drive?

Thanks

You can test the health of a HDD with Disk Genius

I agree with SpywareDr,

Run the HDD Diagnostic Program on your hard drive.

If you were still running Windows...
I'd say go check the CHKDSK logs to see what kind of errors were repaired.

Linux must also keep repair logs.
But I'm not familiar with it, as to know what those would be.
Since I'm still using Windows.:cheeky:

either my post got deleted or I forgot to submit but It is not something I would worry about. It was running a chkdsk at startup. It happens when the computer was improperly shut down and other reasons. If it was a one time deal, I would not worry about it. If it continues to happen when turning on the computer, there could be problems with the drive.

Did I do the right thing? Is there more to do?

The Dude September 29th, 2022 10:34 AM

I noticed that by Cylinder Range it said 70608 to 121601. Does that mean I didn't scan the whole Hard Drive?

mattpg1 October 3rd, 2022 01:32 AM

I'll change 70608 to 0 and do a scan.
