Plz do not post HJT logs in this forum!!!

This is just a friendly reminder from the folks here at CTH to post all HJT logs in the Cyber Safety forum. While we are happy to help with Windows issues, but if you think you may have spyware or virus related problems posting a HJT log in the correct forum will result in faster turn-around. Post the logs there and if the experts can't find any issues related to spyware or virus activity then feel free to post in the Windows OS forums.

Is there a way that I can move my post that I had earlier today to the cyber saftey forum?

Pi rules September 21st, 2005 03:07 AM

Only moderators and administrators can move posts (as far as I know). You could PM one to move yours.

Monique:

The warning you received is the default warning XP gives with any executable download. There is NOTHING to worry about with this download!!

Response to Murray

Hi Murray:

If this is an insignificant warning from windows on the small screen about the download and it really isn't a warning and we are to go ahead and download it anyway, then WHAT is the SIGNIFICANT WARNING statement from windows not to really download because it is an actual bad download?

I don't get it. This is confusing to me. Sounds like double talk to me with Windows saying security threat and we are to ignore that and download?

HELP! Explanation please. I won't know what to do. (Novice)

Thanks:confused:

Monique:

You are running XP with SP2 right?? SP2 has a pile of security features that are installed along with everything else..

The message is standard and is given by default with ANY file/program that automatically executes an install from the net..

I got it myself on both my XP and Win2000 systems..

If you feel uncomfortable with it, go to www.downloads.com and search HiJackThis.. Download it from there and then install it..

I apologise. I did post a HJT log, but only because even with the understanding that people live in different time zones, I need an answer as quick as possible, and I was unsure if my problem is windows or cyber safety related

WayneWhitty December 14th, 2006 10:13 PM

Sorry people, but I posted a question yesterday and still no luck... Please have a look....

yeah newbies..a bunch of them

Egg on my face too. I just posted a question about running processes and I thought that this was the place to park my inquiry - it doesn't fall under a security issue and I would think that my question is more relevent to this XP specific forum. It stands to reason that a HJT log would be a necessary piece of information for the support person to consider, so if it isn't allowed to be posted here then...????
Yes, I am a newbie (a necessary point in the transition of going from ignorant to educated)
