Whose got the worst PC ?

Hey,

I was thinking today as my PC chugged away what a crap PC I have lol I was wondering who has the worst pc here. My PCs specs are :

AMD K6II 450
Jetway 542b motherboard (argh it's terrible - and Jetways tech support is even worse. I had to whinge at them for 6 months before they patched their BIOS - incidentally they didn't think there was a fault until I proved it)
128MD SDRAM PC100 (soon to be 192) stoopid old motherboard :(
SiS6326 AGP vid card 8MB its terrible
Voodoo2 - old old old
Soundblaster LIVE - would trade any day for an Aureal3D
External 56k Rockwell chipset modem (the only good part of my system)
Old Old Keyboard
Decent wheel mouse (non-optical)
and a Linksys NIC

Who can beat that ?? :D

Here are mine.
  • Pentium 100
  • Quad Speed Mitsumi CDROM
  • NoName motherboard 33MHz FSB!!! WOW! I even have the turbo button to make it go 66! I think.
  • 8MB EDO 72 pin <--I bumped that sucker up from 4 MB
  • Trident PCI 500KB Video card
  • Internal 14.4 US Robotics modem
  • 6 pin din Keyboard with detachable keys!
  • An old Microsoft serial mouse. I only have one PS/2 port and it's broke. :(
  • No sound card!
  • No NIC!

This amazingly fast computer runs Windows 95 and that's about it. It's a great sympathy attractor also. :D

I'm still using a Dell Precision 486SX/25.
That's right.
25mhz Intel chip.
9,600 baud modem.
The(small) HDD hangs outside the case. I took it out once for some reason, and could never fit it back properly ( :o ).

It was bought new by my parents, and they gave it to me when they bought a spankin' new P133 system. My Dad's since passed away, so it's sort of a family heirloom.

I just got free of charge a whopping 486dx/22
with no modem and two 4 megs simms for a grand total of 8 megs.
its a old packard $ell with just one ISA slot with a daughter card to run everything else(like sound card and network card) and a 25 meg harddrive.
this was a working computer until a month ago at my brothers company, they got hit by lighting and insurance paid for all new computers, lucky company.
so my brother thought he was getting me something good LOL still free is free.

Geez MishY, a 450MHz AMD CPU ain't THAT bad. My wife's is a 450. The one I'm on in my den is a 500 AMD K6-2. Of course my new 950 Duron, 7200 RPM IBM drive, 256 RAM is nice. :p

I think just for the heck of it I'm gonna build a 1.9GHz Athlon a few months down the road...maybe a 2 gig by then. :D

I gotta Dell Pentium Abacus, circa 1840, and a Casio calculator, that has the third led digit from the right, broken, it never works, the darn thing is out of warranty, I never bought the extended service!! :( :( :(

Dave.

That's it, then, Dave gets the prize.

Send him something shiny :)

Should I admit that we have a 486 running as a Netware 3 server at work?

Hmmm, I loked at this and thought... nah, I can't win (or is that lose) this at the moment, the worst running machine at the mo' is a P166mmx... but then I thought... I've got the makings of a world beater... So I put together a 386 with 4mb Ram (4 x 1meg 30pin SIMMS) 210MB hdd, no CD, Win3.1. Serial Mouse & 14" monitor.

Only thing I didn't try was to network it in with my network, only cos I'm crap at 3.1, I'd have to up it to W95a.

:) Maybe that'll be a "holiday" project when I get bored of my son's new games... :D

p.s. Mishy, that spec (almost) matches my best machine! Except I DO have the Aureal3d sound and have got a 32MB TNT2 (early xmas pressie) vid card instead of the crap 8mb on board SIS chip.

I have an old system that I have no Idea how fast the processor is. It only has Built for Windows 95 stamped on it.. Then has a Whopping 40mb hard drive, 4mbs edo ram. 1 Internal 5 1/2" Floppy drive, and 1 internal 3 1/2" floppy...

Now for my system though... Not much compared to Junkys little machine though...

HP pavillion 6553
13gig Quatum Fireball HD
466mgz Intel Celeron proc..
1 internal 40x cdrom
1 internal 8x4x32 CD-RW Philips
floppy
Internal Rockwell 56k data fax PCI modem
Direct PC's Satellite System powered by (OH YES) AOL.... :D

redstone December 25th, 2001 01:19 PM

smurf, you can't network Win 3.1. It took 3.11 or windows for workgroups to network. Red

oracle128 December 28th, 2001 08:20 AM

i think i can beat you all...i got an old Commadore Amiga 500 lying around somewhere... no idea about the processor but it's got a whole 500k of RAM :)
