I used to be really good at interpreting dreams and also at suppressing them. I studied the subject quite extensively trying to figure out what some of my own meant. I went through a phase in my late teens and early twenties where almost all of my dreams were nightmares and I had to know what they meant. I didn't like what I found out.

I also studied up on taking control of lucid dreaming. Awesome theory, but I could never master it. There's little tricks you can use to make your subconscious view the dream for what it is; a dream instead of the reality your subconscious mind perceives it as. Simple things like looking at a clock, turning away and looking again to see a different time. A trained subconcious mind should be able to recognize the difference immediately and understand that it is a dream and nothing more. It's a lot harder than it sounds, but supposedly if you can take control of it you can do anything you want and it will seem as real as if you were wide awake. It's very similar to what Robert Jordan uses in his "Wheel of Time" series which is called Tel'Aran'Rhiod (translated as World of Dreams from a fantasy language). In that series Tel'Aran'Rhiod is an alternate dream world that can be entered and used for various purposes. It is separate from the "normal" world of dreams. But the theory is much the same, what happens there is real enough that death in the World of Dreams is death in the real world.

But I've gotten way off track....

Apparently I wake up screaming on a fairly regular basis. I don't ever remember the dreams much less waking up screaming, but people I have lived with since I was a kid have always told me I do, so I guess it must be true. On rare occassions I've been known to sleepwalk too. The last time that I know of was about 2 years ago.

The worst dream I remember having recently is as follows:

I was walking through a house that was very similar to my own, but it wasn't my house. I had no idea why I was there or how I got there, but I had the feeling I wasn't supposed to be there. As I walked into a room that was furnished only with a big "U" shaped couch in front of a fireplace this naked chick grabbed me from behind putting her hand over my mouth and she began whispering fiercly into my ear, but I couldn't understand her. Then she guided me quickly to the couch and pushed me down and started throwing blankets over me that seemed to come from nowhere. All the while she was still talking quickly and quietly but her sense of urgency was becoming more and more frantic, and then I suddenly started to understand what she was saying and I started to become very frightened myself. She was saying something like "He's coming! He's coming! If he finds you here he'll hurt us both." I didn't know who "he" was or why I should be afraid, but the sense of urgency and fear in her voice was enough to chill a person to the bone.

At this point I was curled up under the covers on one corner of the couch and I was using a finger to lift the edge of the covers just enough to peek out. I could see the naked woman now standing in the corner on the opposite side of the room with her hands folded at her waist and her eyes cast to the floor, she looked very nervous and every now and then she would cast a quick glance towards the door at the back of the room and then at me.

At this point it seems an awful long time passed with me under the covers and I was starting to get irritated. I was just about to throw the covers off when I heard the creaking of a door, maybe I should say "the" door. I don't know why because there were other doors to that room but there was an importance that door, "the" door. As the door began creaking the woman in the corner dropped to her knees but she was no longer naked, she was in a sheer black gown and a mask over her eyes, she seemed to be shaking.

It was at this point the man came into view and I strongly recall the urge to make myself as still and small as I could. All I could see was his backside, but that was enough to inspire fear in and of itself. He was tall and very very thick with long black hair, although just "black" doesn't justify it, it was absolute black. He held out his hand to the woman and she meekly reached up and took it. He then guided her over to the couch to the opposite end of where I was which was directly across from me and laid her down so very gently, you could almost feel the tenderness of this action, it seemed very exaggereated yet genuine. But that was to be the end of that. His next move was to remove the gown which he did by slicing it right down the middle using his fingernail which I now noticed was exceptionally long and sharp. After that he began having sex with her in what seemed to be a well practiced rape scenario, you know, like this was a fetish and they had done this hundreds of times. It took every fibre of my will to keep me under the covers. I'm not sure if it was because I wanted to run or join in, I was so frightened and turned on at the same time. But then the decision was made for me as he turned his head and looked directly at where I was hidden under the blankets and says "What fool thinks to break into the devil's house and live to see another day?"

Needless to say I nearly soiled myself. All feelings of desire were replaced by paralyzing terror. But somehow I managed to fly from under the covers and broke for "the" door which bursted open just as I was about to reach it revealing a room full of women in various states of dress, some tied up, some hanging from hooks and others just moving about (aimlessly?). At the sight of this I turned back but he was standing there, laughing at me (and talking, though I have no clue what it was he might have been saying). I dove over the couch, and as I did I noticed a window beside the fireplace that I'm sure wasn't there before, and I also noticed the chick who had "hid" me still laying naked on the couch, but she was now in a state of decay.

As soon as I was over the couch I broke for the window and jumped through just narrowly escaping his hands as he reached for me. I guess as things go in dreams, or maybe just moments of terror, I never considered what might be outside the window... or more accurately in this case, what wasn't outside the window, which was the ground. I seemed to fall forever with nothing but darkness below and then suddenly I was in a hospital. Not as a patient or at least I don't think so, but I was in a corridor that I recognized very well. It was the corridor that led to the back of the pharmacy where nurses and assistants picked up medications for patients at the hospital I used to work at.

And that's when I woke up.

I always have elevator dreams. I get in an elevator and I already know what's going to happen, but there's nothing I can do about it. Then it goes up to the top floor and doesn't stop, just keeps going until it hits the top of the elevator shaft and breaks and drops full speed to the bottom floor and kills everyone, including me. Then, I wake up all pissed off. :disgust:

Take a few/or more shots of WILD TURKEY(101 proof) before you go to bed. You will sleep like a baby and you will not remember you dreams.
My 2 cents worth.

the question is, is your dreams your reality or your reality your dreams. Which is true reality? So until I know fer sure which reality is real and which is dreams, I cannot tell you my worse dream.

That's right on par with "did god create man or did man create god".

Both make for interesting discussion.

It has been theorized that when we dream our essence (or spiritual being) actually leaves our body to transcend time and space where we would then exist in a dimension or alternate reality outside of our physically limited "reality". It's a known fact that the three dimensional world that we call reality is actually a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of "true reality".

We know (or should I say -- scientists theorize that) there are other dimensions, but physically "we cannot touch, taste, see, or feel" (this line was actually used in the Incubus song "Rough Skin" or something like that and is a recording of spoken word from a book that attempted to disprove human perceptions of reality -- I'd be hard pressed to recall the name of the book much less provide a source -- sorry.) the other dimensions that we may or may not exist in. I don't know that I'd necessarily call this proof, but many point to the fact that as we fall sleep, our bodies react by sending out impulses through the nervous system as a jump start because it thinks the body is dying. This is why most people have slight twitches as the drift off to sleep.

Well, I wish I had more time to continue with this line of thought, but it's quitting time and I need to get out of here.

I do this during the day, while fully awake and cognizant of the idiots I'm surrounded by.
It makes them fairly nervous. ;)

Ok Here's a couple for you - pretty tame really.

Usual scenario - being chased (no idea by who), need to escape. Convenient flagpole, climb to top. Pole starts to sway from side to side - can't hold on. Let go and fall.... (always waken up before impact)

Second: Need to go to the shops so it's out the back door, down the concrete steps, along the stony path and hang a left. 150m down the road there is a police car. The two policemen are now in my house - one puts the kettle on and the other has a look round. They explain (laughing a lot) that they were monitoring traffic speed on the main road into town and they glance in the rear view mirrors to see me walking down the middle of the road completely starkers. So they cover me with a jacket and escort me back to the house. As I awaken, I see that I have a large fluorescent police jacket on and there are two policemen in my house - one making tea and the other explaining that they were monitoring traffic at the end of my road...............

I'll try to make this short for the sake of the reader.

I have a reoccurring dream that happens once every few years, sometimes 3 times a year. Ahem now with my dream.

I dream I'm in my room in my old house as a kid, I start hearing loud noises of lightning outside the house along the highway. I then would get up run to the side door in the basement and look out the window, I'd see this huge Roman Soldier like the kind on that wheat bread, anyways its throwing lightning everywhere blasting stuff up and I freak out. When I was a kid I'd wake up at that point. But as I got older the story continued, after I stepped back in panic scared of what he'll do to me, as I stood there the door suddenly blows off its hinges and I then start running upstairs to our backyard, I'd wake up at that point for awhile.

Hang on thats not the end, I run outside and into the woods behind our house see this huge tree and I hide behind it, I press my face against the bark of the tree holding my breath, I hear it coming closer and closer blowing things up left and right, finally It's so close I'm compelled to run but I fall....... look up and see this huge monster made of eye's all watching my every move, these eye's wasn't like a monsters eye's all glazed, it was human cold eyes the kind that chills you to the bone, as of now thats as far as its progressed. I haven't had that dream for about a year now but, I have had it about 8 times through my life. Damn couldn't shorten it out sorry guys. :embarrass
