Windows 98SE will not boot (Dual boot system)
HI I run FC5 (Linux->GRUB bootloader), I also have a lot of data on my secondary HDD (Windows Drive). I do not want to loose this data and all I get when I try to boot Windows 98SE is an error saying that GRUB cannot boot into Windows because it does not recognize the boot file (or something to that effect). How can I get Windows to boot without losing all my data. I have tried to put my Windows drive on the primary channel and boot it as a primary drive, but all I get is "L02 02 02 02....". I have also tried starting the PC with CDROM Support (via Windows install CD, and ,with the Windows drive on Primary channel) and running the sys C: command... No luck (sys command not recognized). I am all out of ideas, any help would be appreciated...

Set the windows drive to primary master.
Boot to a windows98 boot floppy. Type fixmbr at the command prompt and hit enter. Reboot with the floppy removed. |
before you start messing with it, you may want to boot to linux and try to save the files you do not want to lose.
