Disk At 100% usage

This is not my month first problems with moms notebook now tonight my PC is freezing up and real slow I brought up Resource monitor through Task manager and my disc was at 100% and Memory at 76% and CPU at 59%

There were about 10 wsqmcons.exe running and
a long list of svchost.exe (LocalServiceNetworkRestricted) running

and a few of these:
Service Host: Local Service (No Impersonation) (3)
Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted) (10)

This machine has never given me any trouble before.
After a while it started going a little bit faster and I went and looked and the
top two files went down to just a couple, the bottom two files were still there.

Then in a short time the whole problem happened again
I know Windows needs these files but I don't think they are working properly. How do I fix. I ran my Norton anti-virus and it came up clean.

Thanks

Hey Kuzz.

Go to the start button search box, and type cmd

When cmd.exe appears at the top of the display right click it, and select "Run as administrator".

When the command box opens, at the prompt type:

chkdsk /r

And press Enter.

It should tell you the volume is in use, and would you like to run check disk during reboot (or similar - typing this from memory).

Type Y and press Enter, then reboot the computer.

During startup check disk will run. Once it completes and repairs any file system errors, Windows will boot. See if that improves things and post back please.

I was in the process of typing to you that it had been stuck on 12% for over 3 hours but I looked up and it finished. I'll let you know if that did the trick.

Thanks

I forgot to mention it takes a pretty long time to run, especially if the file system has a lot of issues.

Running normal now thanks.
