HJT Log Help (Moved from Cyber Safety Forum)

Hey guys, been awhile since I been around here. I been busy with work. Been out on the drillin rig for a couple months now.
Computer has been abused by my brother and his friends and seems to be running alittle on the slow side from how I remember before I left to work.

Could you please give me a hand in this? Thank you guys in advanced.

Hi eL_EpiC. There is no evidence of any malware startups in that log.

I see that One Care Live is installed on this computer. Is Norton still installed? There are some Norton startups still present.

eL_EpiC July 21st, 2008 06:59 AM

No I do not see norton in my progs. Could you help me get rid of the other norton stuff? Thanks in advance and thank you for the reply.

AnnMarie July 21st, 2008 07:04 AM

Sure. Go here and run the online Norton Removal Utility. It should get rid of Norton traces.

Reboot afterwards and let me know if this helped. I'll transfer this topic to the Windows Vista Forum.

Alright, thank you for your help. Sorry for the long wait to get a reply I have been alittle busy but I am going to run that now. Ill post up and tell ya after it is done.

Ok. I'll look at more comprehensive logs. Perhaps they will provide a clue. Download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) from here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Make sure dss.exe is on your desktop and open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click on the Start button and type cmd.exe in the Start Search box. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Copy and paste the below string after the prompt>.

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config

When the DSS Configuration display opens click the "Check All" button. Uncheck "Temp Cleanup" and then click the "Scan!" button to start the scan.

Once the scan has completed a textbox will appear - copy/paste those contents back here (main.txt). Also a the second text file, extra.txt, will show as minimized in your Task Bar. Maximize/Open this, and copy/paste those contents back here along with the main.txt please. (The logs can also be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder). You may find that the maximum characters allowed is exceeded when you post. If so, halve the logs and make several posts.
