xp deckstop

My wife hit something on her computer the other day and now she has a white colum on the left side of the screen on the desk top It has three headings, folder task, other places, and details. All have drop down menus. How do I get rid of it?

Click Here to open a Doug Knox page.

On that page, read the instructions on how to use the file you download there.

See if that gets rid of the white bar.

Thanks for the help but I must have other problems. The file will not run. I get an invalid file error message.Even download and extract to a jump drive on another computer. Works there. I did a few system restore and got rid of the folder( also a lot more)

What other problems are you having now? Did you do all of your Virus/malware scans?

I can not load many freeware programs, like XP_commontasks.zip. Thet download and unzip but the computer shows "not a valid application" I did a system restore to a week ago date and it erased many programs and bookmarks.
