Programs crashing

Hi,

My dell laptop running windows 10 keeps randomly crashing any open programs (chrome, Firefox, malewarebytes anti malware...)

The few times malwarebytes actually finished running, it came up with no issues. Windows troubleshooter also comes up with nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dell Inspiron 17 5000
Windows 10 pro 64 bit

According to Dell that laptop was never tested for Windows 10, and it doesn't have drivers for it. Was it giving you problems before you installed Windows 10?

It came pre-installed with windows 10 from Dell.
It started soon after I got it. Problem went away for a few months, and just came back a few weeks ago.

Are you sure that it's a Inspiron 1720? Everything I've read about it says it came with Windows Vista.

Thanks, I'm good, but not that good.
You might want to post in the Malware forum to see if there is something that Malwarebytes isn't picking up.

Does the laptop feel like it's overheating when the programs crash? Does it only happen after the laptop has been running for awhile?

My gut tells me it is a windows system issue (corrupted files) or a hardware (ram) issue. But what do I know.
I was hoping to get help running some test to see if it is one of those.

I guess Ill try to post in the malware forum if I get no reply here.

Not overheating as far as I can tell. Can crash a few min after starting. Also, very new laptop.

I'm not familiar with Windows 10 so I can't help much as far as running tests, but be patient, and hopefully somebody who isn't busy with Father's Day will come along to help.
Did Dell include any recovery discs with the laptop? If not it may be a good idea to contact them to see if they'll send them to you just in case you ever need them.
If it's acting up shortly after you turn it on then it probably isn't heat related.
Sorry for not being able to offer you more help.

When you say the programs are crashing are you getting a blue screen? I'm just trying to get as much info as possible so others here can try to help.
How long have you had the laptop, and how long have the programs been crashing?

Sometimes program will just close. No message.

Sometimes windows pop up saying like:
malewarebytes anti malware has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Sometimes just certain tabs grey out.
