converting PDF files

My site “sefer-li.net” consists mainly from an HTM home page with a list of links connecting to a large amount of PDF documents.
The PDF documents could be copied only in image format and couldn’t be edited or changed in any word processing formats.
Lately something changed on the site, and now the PDF files appear converted to Word, can be copied and edited there.
I checked with some friends and they find the same behavior of PDF files on my site. So the problem cannot be a bug in my computer.
Can you, please, explain what possibly happened and how to return my site to the regular working.
Thanks

I went to your site, but couldn't figure anything out, because I can't read Hebrew, but I saw that there was a link there for Adobe Reader, and I'm wondering if the people who are telling you that they can edit the PDFs have downloaded Adobe Reader DC, because that would allow them to do so.

Just went back to your site, and when you click on Adobe Reader it does give the option of downloading Adobe Reader DC. You might want to try it yourself.

converting PDF files

Thank you IPR512 but my problem is that, apart of the home page in HTML, the only files that I uploaded to the hosting server were in PDF, and only this type of files I find in the server’s list.
And now, when I try to open them by clicking on the blue Hebrew links in the home page, they appear in Word format.
I try to understand what or who does the conversion and how to prevent it.

Sorry for not understanding what you posted originally. I don't have much of an answer for you other than to say that maybe you should contact the hosting company to see if they can tell you what has caused the problem.

converting PDF files

Thank you IPR512, Murf and Zipulrich.
I opened the life/02.pdf file on two computers and made screenshots – one of the display of the file, another, of the part of the server list where the file appear. Nothing changed and here the PDF still converts to Word.
But never mind. The problem is not critical. I do not add new files any more. 3000 is enough for my age, and the 200-300 daily visitors don’t complain
Thank you for your interest in the matter.
If possible, I will send you the screenshots.

Yochanan

You're welcome Yochanan. The 200-300 daily visitors are probably just grateful that you are still hanging in there at your age. Take care.

Yochanan,

This seems to be part of the newer versions of Acrobat Reader.

But try doing this....

How do I stop my PDF files from opening in Word?
Answer
  1. Select any PDF file. Control-click to open the menu, and choose File > Get Info.
  2. From the Open with: drop-down menu, select your preferred application, such as Adobe Reader or Preview.
  3. Click Change All button, and in the subsequent dialog box, click Continue.

Edit:

You may also want to look at this, from the Adobe website.

converting PDF

thank you Ensign Tzap but I decided to leave the site as it is now. It's a site for kids and they probably do not mind the format of files.
Besides i ceased to add new files and I find now another interesting issues for the time remaining.
Thanks again.
Yochanan
