Required cd/dvd drive device is missing?

Hi.I am trying to reinstall vista with an installation cd & im getting the error/message ''A required cd/dvd drive device is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk,cd,dvd,or usb flash drive, please insert it now.Note:If the windows installation media is in the cd/dvd drive, you can safely remove it for this step''.There doesnt seem to be a problem with the disk drive as other disks seem to work ok.Had to borrow this installation cd of a friend as i need to completely reinstall vista. They have the same version as me (32-bit home premium). Can anyone help or advise please?.Thankyou.

Possible fix (doesn't work in all cases): Go into BIOS Setup & disable "IDE emulation for SATA drives"
