NIC failure

I have a dell optiplex 870 work station running windows 10 OS. I turned it on today and it says NIC failure. I went to Best Buy and bought a pci Ethernet card. What do I need to do installing the pci card on the desk top? Can someone help me ASAP? Any help will be appreciated.

are you sure about the model number? could not find anything about it with a quick google search. anyways, before opening the new card package. open the computer case and make sure it is dust free. if the nic card is removable. take it out then put it back in and see if you still get the failure message,

to answer your question, insert the card into an open port, turn on the computer and it should look for a new driver at startup. that should be all you need to do. If it cannot find a driver. if a disk came with the card, follow the instructions that came with it.
