Missing Wifi driver
Hi!
I am using Dell Latitude e5440, service tag 5p8zg12, windows 7 professional , 64 bit After recent reinstallation of Windows that came with my laptop, my Network Adapters didn’t show any Wifi drivers and wifi was not working. After much grudge, one of my friends (as he said: Accidentally) found the driver on my laptop [now I know that windows have some built in drivers in it!]. Then I was able to use wifi. It should be mentioned that my Ethernet connection was always working. Now, sometimes esp. after sleep mode I am losing my wifi driver. If I uninstall my Ethernet driver and restart my machine (after one 1 or two attempt) my wifi drivers appears in Network Adapter. I tried driver update but in every attempt updated driver installation was unsuccessful. My compatible wifi drivers listed in “Update driver software” Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter Version: 8.0.0.279 / Qualcom Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Versio: 10.0.0.303 / Qualcom Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Versio: 10.0.0.352 / Realtek RTL8192DE Wireless LAN 802. 11N PCI-E NIC MACI My Ethernet driver is Intel Ethernet Connection 1218-LM Version : 12.12.50.7205 Please help me to fix it. |

Dell Latitude e5440 the right driver for your WiFi is:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us...laptop/drivers Download the file to your desktop it is a *exe file Now go into device manager and uninstall all drivers listed under your wifi
In device manager find Network Adapters, expand it, now click on each of the WiFi ones and hit your delete key. Once they have been removed, close it go to your desktop and double click on the driver file you download and follow the in screen prompts. |

Too often on laptops, the graphics chip starts separating from the motherboard due to heat, and the first sign is disappearing wifi. It's not the drivers that Windows doesn't see, but the wireless device itself. If this is the case with your computer, unfortunately one day the laptop will no longer boot up.
May not be the case here, but with an intermittent wireless device, the solution I use and recommend is to buy a USB Wirelss device. I use TP-Link such as this one, but there are cheaper ones available. I have found that replacing the laptop's wireless card is never the solution. |

" If this is the case with your computer, unfortunately one day the laptop will no longer boot up. " Waht do you mean by that? My laptop will not work at all?----- I am using a cooler for my laptop.
If I use USB Wireless device, would it be wise to remove the WLAN card ? Thank you. |
